“The heart has its reasons, of which reason knows nothing. We feel this a thousand ways”
— Blaise Pascal, Pensées (translated from the french)
Hello, my name is Christopher
Twenty-six years ago, I left my life as a young farmer in Southwestern Ontario and moved to Toronto to study biology and philosophy. In the years since, I have found my life’s work: Bringing us closer to a more equitable and just world – a more compassionate and more humble world, a world where we live together in balance. Growing food, nurturing people, building community, sharing wisdom, healing hurt, fostering change. These are the things I live for.
Get in touch today to find out how I can help.
How to start…
Perhaps you have landed on this website because there is something specific that you are looking for. Use the menu above to jump directly to what you need: Individual Psychotherapy or Training/Workshops.
Not sure what you’re looking for? Explore the site and see what resonates for you. Then get in touch with questions. What you will find here are examples of ways I have helped others in the past. The thing I can help you with might be something else entirely. Say hello, and let’s see where a conversation might lead us.
“You can’t really change the heart without telling a story.”
— Martha Nussbaum, “How to Write About Poverty”
Psychotherapy, sometimes called “talk therapy,” is a kind of psychological work that focuses on helping the client develop awareness of emotions, ways of thinking, and patterns of behaviour. When the client wants to change, we focus on what is keeping them stuck. When they are experiencing difficult or challenging situations, when they feel out-of-control, or when they are overcome with upsetting emotions, we work together to help them to better understand and manage these difficulties.
“The opposite of courage in our society is not cowardice, it's conformity.”
— Rollo May, Man’s Search for Himself
As a Clinical Supervisor & Consultant, offer a few ways that clinicians who practice psychotherapy can work with me to deepen their practice and ways of working with patients. These range from one-on-one or “dyadic” clinical supervision sessions to facilitated peer groups.
“Who teaches us to be normal when we are one of a kind?”
— Sydney Barrett, Legion, Season 1, Episode 5.
I offer a variety of workshops and educational groups that can help you deepen your practice. These workshops and peer groups are aimed at building capacity to engage in the world with greater self-awareness, patience, and compassion.
